Lets go build a modern insulated Home
Here we go with 12 metres of walling on this guys shoulders. This is how the Block is packed. Light and easy to lift.
This is the left hand wing of this 400 metre home. The uprights in the Patio door area are merely supports to hold up the lintel as the cement is poured into it, they are then of course removed.
This separate building is the garage, was assembled in one day, with the roof trusses going on the second day.It is fully insulated both inside and outside.
Here in one of the four bedrooms you can see the concrete beam and block floor and pallets of Celcon internal wall blocks........... So, why build in polystyrene, two good reasons A) Its fast B) Its got built in insulation.
The additional steel work clearly visible in the lounge area is for additional roof support.......
Close up of support for lintel,it will be removed shortly.......... The marks on the walls are where the water from the concrete oozes out......nothing serious.....
Beam and block floor.........so what goes on top? Its an ideal surface to lay Polystyrene sheets topped with Pex Pipe to make an ideal underfloor heating system. Then screed over to the desired floor level.
This item is the support for the walls to stop it moving as the concrete is poured..........
Here it is again................... Once the walls are filled, the floor poured, plastering inside can begin, not forgetting to lay a few electric cables and plumbing pipes first.
Note the red studs fixing the scaffold to the walls. This is a 6" large plastic screw which secures the scaffolding whilst pouring concrete...............it is moved along as the pouring continues.
Corner section with support...........Actual floor level is one block higher as can be seen.
View through from the lounge across the centre patio..........
This is the steel support for the roof............
More supports,more red studs..............
Note the steel is inside the blocks............
Full length view of the lounge.................this home will need little heating even on the coldest days.Aircondtioning may not be required we`ll see.
Close up shots of curved sections of Blocks, this variety is separated by steel wires..........
The outside skin can be rendered, bricked,or trowel application paint.
Here is the stud which screws straight into the Block..........
Steel being installed into the first layer of Block..........
Here you can see the first steel rod being installed and the corner added........
This wall is filled with concrete, the fist pour is usually four blocks high which allows the builder to be up to ceiling height in only two days...........
Good shot of the support scaffolding and walls............
Corner shot of the garage, and the new garden walls..............
Charlie puts some finishing touches to the corner section...............the blocks just simply clip together like Lego blocks.........its so easy..........and much labour is saved by the non use of shoring up walls in the traditional way.
Ready for the internal steel to be inserted, this was laid as I watched.............
Last piece fits in here.................bit like a jigsaw......
The garage...........2 days work !!
Not bad Eh! |
